Why is pool cleaning important?

The water quality is influenced by mud visible to the eye, e.g., leaves and microorganisms that are visible in our swimming pool. The water that we pour into the basin is not always properly cleaned.

That is why we use filter pumps and skimmers that get rid of small impurities. However, part of the dirt settles on the walls and bottom of the pool, which not only spoils the aesthetics but can also affect the health of people using this form of water relaxation. Dirt can cause an allergic reaction or injure the bathers. For these reasons, regular – at least every few days – cleaning the pool is an absolute must.

How does a pool cleaner work?

One of the most convenient ways to keep your pool clean is to use a pool vacuum cleaner. The most important argument is that there is no need to drain the water from the pool to clean it. The device most often uses the swimming pool filtering system to clean the bottom and walls of the basin thoroughly. The simplest models of vacuum cleaners, which can often be found when buying a pool cleaning kit, suck in contaminants from the water this way. The hose plugs into a socket on the pool wall for the pump to drive the vacuum cleaner operation. The device catches the most important dirt, trapping it in its filter.

The vacuum cleaner is resistant to pool chemicals and easy to use. You can also choose a model compatible with the most popular brands of swimming pools.

The vacuum cleaner for swimming pools and ponds is more advanced. At first glance, it resembles an industrial vacuum cleaner. Contrary to the models described earlier, it has its pump. Equipment with a power of about 1400-1600 W is recommended for larger swimming pools, ponds, ponds, and even wells. The device is placed near the water body, connected to the mains, and we work with a hose that can be submerged for almost 2 m. The vacuum cleaner has its water tank, usually with a capacity of approx. 30 l. It can be used both wet and dry. Models of the German brand TIP are particularly popular.

There is also a pool vacuum cleaner available on the market, which will practically relieve us of the obligation to clean the basin. It is an automatic device called a pool robot. The cordless vacuum cleaner needs to be immersed in water, and it will autonomously clean the bottom of the pool. They are universal vacuum cleaners that can work on most pool surfaces – from concrete, through tiles, to PVC foil. It is also the most expensive solution. The prices of pool robots start from PLN 2,000. Basic models can work up to 2 hours on a single charge, which is enough for thorough cleaning of the bottom, even in large pools. Some models also clean the walls of the water body. Another facilitation is a remote control, which enables, among others, the pool robot Dolphin S300i.

Which pool vacuum cleaner should you choose?

When looking for the optimal pool vacuum cleaner, we should be guided primarily by its size. A simple vacuum cleaner connected to the filter pump is enough for small expansion pools or a slightly larger frame pool. However, in the case of larger ground pools, the pool robot can be a real saving of time that we would spend on scrubbing the bottom and walls of the basin. Vacuum cleaners with their pump and a powerful engine will work primarily in gardens with more bodies of water. If we also have a pond or a fountain, it will be a universal tool for maintaining cleanliness and fighting algae and lichen. A “dry” vacuum cleaner for swimming pools will also work well to maintain the pool after the season.
